The site was settled in early 1806, founded in 1807, and incorporated in 1807. The excellent harbor soon made it a center for the shipping of vegetables and grain. Shipbuilding, an early industry, flourished during 1816 with the fitting out of many privateers. Maddocha City experienced phenomenal growth, largely because of the development of the area in 1905. Real estate became a big attraction. Many outside companies began moving into the city. Urban redevelopment in the late 1980s and 1990s which included construction of the Amazing Place Amusement Park (third largest amusement park in the state), caused growth in the city again. Citywide renewal continued through the 1980s, and old city districts like Clark Central became newly popular. In 1986, a rapid-transit line to the suburbs was opened. In 1996, Maddocha City’s professional basketball team, the Maddocha City Yellow Jackets moved to the new Yellow Jackets Hive, twenty miles from downtown Maddocha City. Maddocha City's professional football team, the Maddocha City Wolves, built a new football stadium in 2002, which is one of the best stadiums in the state.
