Hardaway maintains more than 85 public parks, golf courses, and pools, including Eagle Pass Park, and the Maddocha Zoo. Hardaway annually hosts the state fair at the Hardaway State Fairgrounds.

Amateur athletic competitions are frequent in Hardaway. Each summer it is the site for the finals of the Hardaway State Games, with athletes of all ages and skill levels competing in 21 sports. Among the many sports facilities are those for racquetball, tennis, bicycle racing, basketball, skating, and track and field.

The city's professional football team, the Hardaway Heat, play in the 61,400 seat T. S. Rogers Stadium BKA the Swelter Zone. The Hardaway Hurricanes, the professional basketball team of Hardaway, play in the Zamaco Thunder Dome, which opened in 1998.
