Mayor Sidney Vaughnn graduated Cum Laude from Myles University in 1974, with a bachelor degree in political science. He then earned his law degree from Xavier University before settling in Hardaway. He practiced with the law firm of Patrick and Colson. He later served for the Maddocha Justice Department Anti-trust division. He then enjoyed a successful career as a trial lawyer working for a well-known Hardaway firm. In 1981, he was elected to the Solidarity County Council. While serving three consecutive terms, he authored and passed 294 pieces of legislation, among them a comprehensive Ethics in Government package regarded as on of the toughest of any municipality in the state. Mayor Vaughnn is the recipient of numerous awards from religious and civil organizations. An acknowledged expert on housing and transportation issues, Mayor Vaughnn serves as Chair of the Maddocha Conference of Mayor's Transportation and Communications Committee, as well as chair of the Hardaway Regional Commission. He is married to Sharon Scotton-Vaughnn, who coordinates the Adopt-A-Student program for the Hardaway Public School System. He is blessed with three children, Billy, Christine, and Jason. |
