Cultural InstitutionsProminent among cultural institutions in the city is the Children's Museum of Maddocha. The Maddocha Museum of Art has major collections in African, Asian, and European art in several specialized pavilions set amid expansive gardens. The Blackstonian Museum of Western Art displays art and artifacts of the American West. It began as the collection of Hardaway businessman Harrison Blackston. Of historical interest are the restored home of Bill Hardaway, founder of Hardaway, the Hardaway State Museum, and a wide variety of specialty museums ranging from the Water Crisis Museum to the Hardaway Medical History Museum, most famously, the Maddocha Historical Museum. Artists groups supported by the city are the Hardaway Symphony Orchestra, Hardaway Opera, Hardaway ballet Theatre, Hardaway Repertory Company, and numerous other professional and community theatres. |
