Lavonia Herrington-Fine is the first of Maddocha's First Ladies to be a lawyer. She is a member of the Maddocha Bar Association. As First Lady, her primary responsibility has been to chair the Maddocha Community Service Commission, which enables all Maddocha citizens to engage in public problem solving through service and volunteerism. As a vocal advocate for women, she runs in Dorinda's Race for the cure and has received the "Award for Excellent Leadership" from the Engler Cancer Institute for her work promoting breast cancer awareness. She is also a recipient of the Westward Distinguished Women's Award for "outstanding leadership and achievement". She was also honored in 1998 with the "Mother of Young Children Award" by the Hardaway Chapter of the Maddocha Mothers Organization. Lavonia serves as Vice-President of the Library of Maddocha Foundation Board of Directors. She is a member of the Maddocha Communities in Schools Board of Directors. She is also an advocate for Maddocha's on going childhood immunization efforts. Lavonia received her bachelor's degree in government at the Maddocha State University and is a graduate of the Maddocha State University Law School. She is the proud mother of triplet sons – Michael, Herbert, and Derrick. |
